55 Lenin’s article against these planned limitations on workers’ access to education evidently has little to do with economics. Instead it takes into account workers’ lives away from the shop floor and addresses their cultural needs. Significantly, it seems that such subject matter could not in any meaningful sense be ‘prepared’ by any ‘preliminary economic agitation’ and it is likely that a large part of the intended audience of this article had never participated or even thought of participating in a strike.
