So-called vivisection is, however, only permitted “when a state of urgency exists in which the protection of very significant opposing interests are involved, in particular legally protected rights, for example by imminent danger to physical health and life or given the high probability that the fundamental rights of a number of persons can only be protected in the foreseeable future by performing the experiments in question.
