The flaps have been temporarily tacked on for this photo. Two different washes were used for the panel detail, both mixed at a ratio of four parts of thinners to one part of enamel paint. For the underside, I used Tamiya XF-63 German Grey and on the darker surfaces Flat Black. The wash was applied roughly along the panel lines and allowed to dry for about 30 minutes. Using a soft long-haired brush, I coated the surface with clean thinners. This took the unwanted wash off the raised areas leaving it in the ruts only.

RLM 75 Grey Violet was then sprayed freehand on the upper surface. Camouflage masking was applied over the RLM 75 on the wings and the spine before applying RLM 74 Grey Green. After all the masks were removed, the fuselage sides were sprayed with a mottle of RLM 74 and RLM 75. At this point, I sprayed the lower nose yellow. The flaps were now removed and reattached in the lowered position. The whole model was given a gloss coat of Tamiya Acrylic clear gloss in preparation for decals. Most of the decals came from the kit.

Dimensions matched almost perfectly. The depth and shape of the fuselage components looked excellent but there was a tiny discrepancy around the rear fuselage. Heading toward the tail, the fuselage is angled slightly upward compared to the drawings. At the mid-fuselage, the kit part is a little more than 1mm deeper than indicated on the drawing. Minor dimensions look good, even in tricky areas like the space between the front of the windscreen and the back of the engine cowl. The wings also compare very closely to plans, this time scaled up from the Aero Detail book on the Bf 109G.
