This account was based on published material as well as on unpublished archival material on the history of the jeep from the US Military History Institute at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania and the US National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) at College Park, Maryland. Jeep books fall into roughly three main categories - general histories, books aimed at modelers and hobbyists, and books aimed at jeep restorers and owners - with the last category predominating.
