This account was based on published material as well as on unpublished archival material on the history of the jeep from the US Military History Institute at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania and the US National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) at College Park, Maryland. Jeep books fall into roughly three main categories - general histories, books aimed at modelers and hobbyists, and books aimed at jeep restorers and owners - with the last category predominating. Since so manyjeeps ended up in private hands, there are numerous books providing extremely detailed accounts of jeep parts necessary for restoring jeeps to the~r original wartime condition.

Published in French in Luxembourg, this heavily illustrated volume is a virtual encyclopedia of information onjeep history and components, and one of the best single volumes on the wartime jeep.
